Writing a resume for Oracle Taleo
Oracle Taleo does not read a document the way other systems do. Here is what it expects, and what we change when you pick it.
What matters here
- Taleo has the oldest and most literal parser in wide use. Use the plainest possible wording for headings and avoid any character outside basic Latin text.
- It keyword-matches close to literally, so include the exact term from the posting rather than a synonym you prefer.
- Keep every bullet to a single sentence. Long wrapped lines are where this parser most often loses text.
- A flat comma-separated skills list parses more reliably here than grouped categories.

How to tell if an employer uses it
Look at the address bar when you start the application. The system is almost always named in the URL — myworkdayjobs.com, greenhouse.io, taleo.net, jobs.lever.co, icims.com. If you can't tell, leave the setting alone and the general defaults will carry you.
